Dressing for a conference presentation can be tricky. You don't want to be distracted by distracting colors, accessories, and jewelry. If you're going to use a lavalier microphone, the best placement for it is on your upper chest. Some people clip it to their lapels, but this will change the sound level. Instead, wear a simple, solid color. If you're in doubt, ask someone to check with you.
Avoid distracting patterns

There are several ways to avoid these annoying habits while presenting. One of the most obvious is to stop pacing during the presentation. Pacing every thirty seconds creates sight-line issues for the audience and makes them more likely to turn their heads or lean toward you. During your presentation, try to move to one side of the room and return to the other after you've finished making your point. This will force your audience to focus on you, rather than the interruption.

The first way to avoid these patterns is to take breaks during your presentation. If you notice your audience is restless during your presentation, take a break and let them refresh their senses. Once they've refreshed, they'll be ready to listen to the rest of your presentation. Whenever possible, smile to avoid distracting patterns. While you're presenting, try to avoid looking nervous or irritated.
Stick with solid colors

When presenting, use solid colors. When you use solid colors, the audience will recognize them as a new section of the presentation and will associate them with the brand you are presenting. For example, if you are presenting data about your company, a map will help the audience visualize it. Many PowerPoint templates contain a map already. You can copy and paste this color code to your slides to make them more visually appealing.

Avoid intense gradients or bright text. Bright text is difficult to read and may cause eye fatigue. Solid colors are also easier on the eyes. If you're presenting on behalf of a brand, make sure to check the guidelines for their branding. Many companies have a primary brand color and secondary brand colors. Stick with these colors and avoid creating a jumble of different colors. You can also use a single color to highlight important points in your text.
